7123 Basic Computer Application
Grade Level: 9 Semester Course

Basic Computer Application introduces the student to
several uses of the micro-computer as a tool.
Students will receive instruction in keyboarding and
word processing as well as an introduction to other
appropriate computer concepts, ie; report formatting
and spreadsheet. This course satisfies the computer
graduation requirement.
7143 Microsoft Office
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11,12 Semester Course
Prerequisite: Keyboard Competency 5 Credits

It is recommended that students have taken 7123
Basic Computer Application or have keyboarding
competency. This course will introduce students to
Microsoft Office®. It includes the study of word
processing, and Excel spreadsheet. (1) Students will
design letters and other documents in word
processing. (2) They will use the spreadsheet to
organize numbers; for example, keeping one's monthly
expenses, tracing the value of investments,
computerizing one's check-book, etc. The student
will also integrate or combine information from all
of these applications to produce personalized form
letters, reports, mailing labels, etc. This course
satisfies the computer graduation requirement.
7601 Business Math

This is a course with practical emphasis.
Mathematical concepts will be applied to everyday
situations such as checkbooks, loans, sales slips
and budgeting.

continues where semester one ended. Topics such as
mortgages, insurance, taxes and small business
problems will be examined. Completion of #7601

7701 Contemporary Foods I

This is a first semester course that will provide
lab experience in planning, preparing and serving
foods cooked in class. The study of nutrition,
safety and sanitary procedures relating to foods
will also be included. Units taught will be quick
breads, milk products, cookies and soups. A fee for
consumables is required.
7702 Contemporary Foods II
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Spring Semester

This is a second semester course that will provide
lab experience in planning, preparing and serving
foods cooked in class. The study of nutrition,
safety, and sanitary procedures relating to foods

salads, pies and foreign foods will be included. A

7813 Introduction to Business

This course will introduce the students to the
business world. It will present a solid foundation
about what business is, how it operates, and how it
is man-aged. It is a basic business course for those
students interested in a career in business. It will
be very helpful for the freshman or sophomore
student who plans to study other business classes
7560 Mechanical Drawing /CAD 1-2
Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 Year Course

This course is designed to give the student an
overall background in the Graphic Language. It will
include the basic principles and techniques of
Mechanical Drawing using the CAD program to draw. It
will include the fundamentals of drafting with
VECTORWORKP, using the proper tools, constraints and
modifiers, to draw orthographic and isometric
projections, and fundamental geometric
constructions. This course will be especially useful
for the person interested in engineering,
architecture, and mechanical design and in learning
to read drawings of various kinds.
7570 Architecture (AUTOCAD)

A passing grade in geometry is strongly recommended.
This course will provide the student with hands on
experience in the use of the computer as a design
tool. The course will cover the basics in
architectural drafting and introductory design. Two
and three dimensional modeling will be used. This
course will also cover different disciplines of
engineering and architecture. Our program uses the
industry standard AUTOCAD®.
7721 Contemporary Living I
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Fall Semester
Prerequisite: None 5 Credits

This is a first semester course. This course will
include a quarter of interior design. Students will
study home planning, skills in color coordination,
styles of floor and window coverings, basic
furniture styles and furniture arranging. There will
be a quarter of basic sewing. A consumable fee is
required.
7722 Contemporary Living II
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Spring Semester
Prerequisite: None 5 Credits

This is a second semester course. This course will
provide a cooking lab experience. Students will
plan, prepare and serve food in class. It will
include the study of nutrition, milk products, yeast
breads, candies, vegetables and fruits. A consumable
fee is required.
7633 Independent Living
Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 Semester Course
Prerequisite: None 5 Credits

This semester class is designed for students
interested in learning skills for living
independently. The arts of cooking, clothing care,
and etiquette are covered. The course deals with
proper cooking procedures, care, and safety in the
kitchen, nutrition and the preparation of breakfast,
lunch, simple main dishes, cookies, pies and cakes.
A fee for consumables is required.
7753 Fashions (Basic Sewing)
Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 Semester Course
Prerequisite: None 5 Credits
Permission: None
Students will develop skills in pattern selection,
material selection and pattern layout. They will
learn how to use and operate a sewing machine.
Sewing techniques, reading a pattern guide sheet,
fitting, and alterations needed to complete a
garment will be taught. Each student will be
required to complete one garment per quarter.
($15.00-$30.00 average cost of materials.) A fee for
consumables is required.
