Kaplan Test Prep is offering St. Mary's High School free
access to their Online Prep Courses for the PSAT, SAT
and ACT. Ordinarily, each of these Online Prep Courses
would cost $149. Information on how to register is
provided on each counselor's faculty website.

time, Kaplan will offer six-week comprehensive courses
for the SAT and ACT on the St. Mary's campus. The fee
for one six-week course is $499.00. See your respective

PSAT
scores were distributed in December. The results
included the student's test booklet, score report, test
interpretation information, and information about My
College QuickStart (a comprehensive online college and
career resource).
Parents are encouraged to log onto PowerSchool through
our school website. If you have misplaced your username
and/or password please contact Su Towne, our Registrar,
at 957-3340, Ext. 103 or your student's respective
counselor.
Career
Day for Juniors and Seniors will be held on April
18, 2012 from 11:35 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Students have
chosen three sessions to attend and dismissal will
be at 2:00 p.m.
Advanced
Placement Exams will be offered from May 7th
through May 16th. Contact

will be posted in the students' respective
classrooms.
2012 Career Day
Sponsored by the Scholarship and Guidance Departmernts,
teh 2012 Career Day offered St. Mary's students the
opportunity to hear from business and professional
community members, including many alumni of the school
as they explained and answered questions in their
respective fields of expertise.
Among the careers discussed were:

Development & Construction
The Career Day program is intended to provide both
insight and inspiration to students as they choose and
prepare for their own life careers.
Online/Correspondence/Summer School Policy
For eligibility purposes, final grades and earned credits
from schools other than St. Mary’s, including online
classes, must be verified by the first full day of
classes in August for Q1 eligibility and the Friday
before Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday in January for Q3
eligibility.
Grades
from courses taken at schools other than St. Mary’s,
including online classes, will be computed for
eligibility in the Fall and Spring semester gpas only.
Q2 and Q4 eligibility will be determined using only St.
Mary’s grades earned the previous quarter. A member of
the St. Mary’s Guidance Department will proctor final
exams for online and/or correspondence courses.
Appointments for taking final exams must be scheduled
ahead of time with a member of the Guidance Department.
Exams may be taken on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday
of the month. When school is in session, these exams
will be administered at 2:15 p.m. For testing on the 1st
and 3rd Tuesdays in June, July and August, students can
call Mr. Nomellini, 957-3340, ext. 124, to schedule a
testing time.
A fee
of $25 will be assessed for each final exam proctored.
The fee is due prior to the administration of the final
exam.
Guidance/College Readiness
Students and parents are advised to read and study the
requirements for initial eligibility formulated in the
Guide for the Collegebound Student Athlete. Access to
this guide is available on the NCAA website at

HOBY
Sophomores may pick up an application for the HOBY (Hugh
O'Brien Youth) Leadership Seminar from the Guidance
office. HOBY seminars are 3 to 4-day leadership
workshops held each spring in California. One sophomore
will be chosen to represent St. Mary's High School.

Scholarship Information
Several private universities
require the PROFILE form. The PROFILE application form
can be completed online at
www.collegeboard.com.
GPA verification forms will automatically be submitted
by St. Mary’s after the semester grades in January.
All
students should check the Scholarship Office or the
Scholarship Website regularly
to see if there is a scholarship for which they can
apply or an essay contest they can enter. Many
organizations open scholarships to the entire student
body.
Seniors
are advised to periodically check the table outside of
the Scholarship Office (Room 227) for scholarships and
information regarding financial aid.
SM
Cookbooks are now available in the Scholarship Office
for $20.00. Purchase your copy by coming to Room 227 or
calling 957-3340 ext. 121. All proceeds benefit St.
Mary’s scholarships.

2012 Catholic College Fair
2012-2013 Seniors should mark their calendar for
October 2012 when the Diocese of Stockton with
the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and the
dioceses of Oakland, Sacramento and Fresno in a
new series of local Catholic college fairs
designed to expose students and their parents to
a range of Catholic colleges, and some state
colleges, that may be a fit.
Colleges likely to send representatives include Ave
Maria University, Belmont Abbey College, Benedictine
College, Catholic University of America, Christendom
College, Creighton University, Dominican University of
California, Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology,
Franciscan University, Gonzaga University, Holy Names
University, John Paul the Great University, Notre Dame
University, Notre Dame de Namur, Providence College,
S.F. State Newman Center, St. Mary’s College of
California, Santa Clara University, Thomas Aquinas
College, U.C. Berkeley Newman Center, University of
Dallas, University of San Francisco, University of San
Diego, Wyoming Catholic College.
Summer School
Students who are considering taking summer school
courses at any of the local public schools, Delta
College, or online, should contact their respective
guidance counselor before registering for any
coursework.
