the SAT Reasoning and ACT Tests.
Kaplan Test Prep is offering St. Mary’s High School free
access to their Online Prep Courses for the PSAT, SAT
and ACT. Information on how to register is provided on
each counselor’s faculty website.
Advanced Placement Exams will be offered from May 2nd
through May 12th. The deadline to sign up for an AP Exam
is Friday, March 25, 2011. Contact Mr. Nomellini for
more information. Information will be posted in the
students’ respective classrooms.
Two
non-profit educational organizations, WACAC and NACAC,
organize annual regional and national College Fairs.
Numerous colleges are usually represented at these
events, so it’s a great place to collect information and
make personal contact with college representatives. For
your convenience, we have created web links for these
sites on our school webpage and our counselor websites.
Students should consult with their respective guidance
counselor prior to enrolling in summer school coursework
at any of the local public schools, San Joaquin Delta
College, or through an online provider for the purposes
of college remediation, academic achievement, or NCAA
eligibility.
Online/Correspondence/Summer School Policy
For
eligibility purposes, final grades and earned credits
from schools other than St. Mary’s, including online
classes, must be verified by the first full day of
classes in August for Q1 eligibility and the Friday
before Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday in January for Q3
eligibility.
Grades from courses taken at schools other than St.
Mary’s, including online classes, will be computed for
eligibility in the Fall and Spring semester gpas only.
Q2 and Q4 eligibility will be determined using only St.
Mary’s grades earned the previous quarter. A member of
the St. Mary’s Guidance Department will proctor final
exams for online and/or correspondence courses.
Appointments for taking final exams must be scheduled
ahead of time with a member of the Guidance Department.
Exams may be taken on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday
of the month. When school is in session, these exams
will be administered at 2:15 p.m. For testing on the 1st
and 3rd Tuesdays in June, July and August, students can
call Mr. Nomellini, 957-3340, ext. 124, to schedule a
testing time.
A
fee of $25 will be assessed for each final exam
proctored. The fee is due prior to the administration of
the final exam.
Guidance/College Readiness
Students and parents are advised to read and study the
requirements for initial eligibility formulated in the
Guide for the Collegebound Student Athlete. Access to
this guide is available on the NCAA website at
www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.

PSAT
scores will be available for students in the Guidance
Office prior to the end of the fall semester.
Historically, the test results usually arrive in the
first or second week of December. The results will
include the student’s test booklet, score report, test
interpretation information, and information about MyRoad
(a comprehensive online college and career resource).
Parents are encouraged to log onto PowerSchool through
our school website. If you have misplaced your username
and/or password please contact Julia Scriven, our
Registrar, at 957-3340 ext. 103.

Scholarship Information
Several private universities
require the PROFILE form. The PROFILE application form
can be completed online at
www.collegeboard.com.
GPA verification forms will automatically be submitted
by St. Mary’s after the semester grades in January.
All
students should check the Scholarship Office regularly
to see if there is a scholarship for which they can
apply or an essay contest they can enter. Many
organizations open scholarships to the entire student
body.
Seniors
are advised to periodically check the table outside of
the Scholarship Office (Room 227) for scholarships and
information regarding financial aid.

Cookbooks are now available in the Scholarship Office
for $20.00. Purchase your copy by coming to Room 227 or
calling 957-3340 ext. 121. All proceeds benefit St.
Mary’s scholarships.
Scholarship Cooking Class Fundraiser Information
The Scholarship Department, courtesy of Heidi
Cortopassi and Becky Carlson is hosting a series of
Cooking classes. Cost is $35 per person. The schedule
of events is as follows:

April 12th Healthy Eating - Shrimp Tacos and
Artichoke and lemon stuffed chicken breasts
May 12th - Woodfire Pizzas and Oven pizzas

Students wishing to meet with the representatives of
various colleges and universities must schedule a
