The President's Club was established in 2001 as a
way to enhance our rich heritage by providing funds to assist
with meeting the needs of the school. Membership is open to all
who believe in the goals of St. Mary's High School and
contribute $1,000 or more annually to the President's Club.
With funds from the past five years' memberships, laptop
computers were purchased for faculty members in the Math,
Science, English, Language, Social Studies and Art Departments.
The use of these computers has enhanced the efforts of the
faculty to bring the latest technology into the classroom. In
addition, funding provided by the club allowed St. Mary's to
purchase laptops for teachers, to
launch in the 2008-2009 school year a program to assist students
in need of better reading and comprehension skills and in the 2008-2007 school year, a web-based resource for
parents, students and teachers to provide timely updates on
grades, progress and allow for more effective communication.
The 2009 President's Club Dinner date will be
announced at a later time.

who by reason of their
involvement and service have made a significant impact on their local
communities;
who have contributed
significantly to their church communities;
whose lives can serve as
models of the standards which St. Mary's wishes to impart to its own
students;
who are supporters of St.
Mary's High School
who have been instrumental
in the development of St. Mary's and its programs.
The
members of the 2008 Class of The St.
Mary's High School Hall of Fame are:
Vincent Augello ‘58
Vince grew up in Stockton and is a St. Mary’s Alumni. He
graduated in 1958 and then attended Delta,
University of San Francisco, and University
of the Pacific where he graduated with a BA
in Economics. He continued his education in
the Pacific Coast School of Banking at the
University of Washington where he graduated
in 1982. Vince retired in 1994 from Wells
Fargo Bank as a Senior Vice President &
Regional Manager. He has served on the
Advisory Board and has been a significant
participant supporting both scholarships and
athletics at St. Mary’s. Vince is married
to Rosalie and has two married daughters and
one grandson. Since his retirement Vince
has been very active at St. Mary’s and
enjoys promoting the value of a St. Mary’s
High School education.
Dino and Joan Cortopassi
Dino & Joan both grew up in Stockton and attended UC Davis.
Dino began working on the farm driving a
grain truck when he was 10; and at 12
graduated to the top tractor job on his
family’s farm. Since those days, his career
has spanned from being a tenant farmer, then
property-owning farmer, food processor, then
mentor to several family-owned companies and
has since joined Joan in philanthropy. He
credits his parents for instilling in him
‘how hard work will lead to a good life’.
When asked how he defines success Cortopassi
says, “It’s constantly striving to perform
at maximum potential without compromising
personal values. It’s about my word, my
family, and my honor.” In 2005 Dino was
Stocktonian of the Year. Dino and Joan have
established two family foundations. The
Capecchio funds a broad array of community
activities, with particular focus on
education, including 60 K-8 scholarships for
inner-city children. The Cortopassi
Institute makes grants on national policy
issues related to education reform, property
rights, citizenship responsibility, and the
promotion of the free enterprise system.
“Giving back to society is an important
ideal and principle in this country,” he
says. “We believe in America and in giving
back.” Together they have donated to St.
Mary's High School a beautiful
state-of-the-art aquatics center to be
enjoyed by the St. Mary’s family and the
community as well. Dino and Joan have four
children and ten grandchildren.
Marian Jacobs
Marian attended Stockton schools and
graduated from College of the Pacific.
Marian founded an advertising agency at the
age of 19 and retired after 53 years.
Marian has received countless awards and
honors. She was the first woman elected
president of the Stockton Advertising Club,
and she was also a two-term director at the
Stockton Chamber of Commerce. In 1978 she
was Stocktonian of the Year and in 2002 was
voted Woman of the Year by the California
State Assembly. Marian has devoted many
hours and has financially supported various
programs at St. Mary’s. She currently is
focusing on raising funds for St. Mary’s
High School Capital Building Campaign.
Merle Marquez
Merle has been working in the Library at
St. Mary's High School for almost 38
years. She started at St. Luke’s School
where she helped set-up a library
program and continued to volunteer for
several years. She remembers the first
copying machine and what a wonderful
addition it was to the library. Then
the first computer came and now a
library full of state of the art
computers with access to several
databases. She said as a librarian she
is always looking for new ways to help
and encourage students. Merle has been
married to Rockie for 62 years. They
have four children, Ronald, Thomas,
Sandra and Mary. They also have five
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
John Zeiter, M.D. ‘80
John Zeiter attended Presentation School and St. Mary’s High
School where he was the Valedictorian
for the Class of 1980. John is one of
25 Zeiters who have attended St.
Mary’s. He went on to U.C. Davis,
Baylor College of Medicine and in 1992
John completed his education at the
Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State
University in Detroit. Currently he
practices ophthalmology with Zeiter Eye
Medical Group. Dr. John Zeiter has
supported St. Mary’s in every way he
can. He also chairs the Science
Professionals Committee as well as being
a member of the Foundation and Steering
committees.
Since returning to Stockton in 1992 he feels a deep sense of
appreciation for St. Mary’s and how it
helped him become the person he is
today. John feels a strong need to give
back to the community that gave him so
much as he was growing up. He has been
married to Lynette for 20 years. They
have four children.
