The class of 2024 walked the red carpet for a Hollywood-worthy senior brunch on Friday, May 17.

“We started planning for Senior Brunch a few months ago. Our Senior Brunch Committee was able to put together a special event thanks to donations from our generous senior parents,” said Kristin Rasmussen, one of the many parents who helped organize the event. “The casino tables and corn hole were the hit of the morning. All of our seniors seemed to have great time at their last big event together before graduation.”

Students reported to the Big Gym at 8:15 a.m., and were instructed to wear “nice slacks with a collared shirt, no shorts, blue jeans or sweats (gentlemen), and appropriate length dresses, skirts, or slacks/capris and a top with sleeves (ladies).”

This year, the theme was the red carpet. Upon arrival, seniors walked their very own red carpet into the gym, where they received this year’s yearbooks. There were games such as cornhole and poker to play. The seniors also received raffle tickets - they could participate in the raffle for Visa, Dutch Bros, Starbucks or Chipotle gift cards, the value of which was from $10 - $100. Winners were announced periodically until the end of brunch. A coffee truck was stationed in front of the gym, with drinks cleverly themed for the occasion. While at the brunch, many seniors exchanged yearbooks and participated in the raffles and gambling. The food was presented buffet-style, with options being pancakes, bacon, eggs, and hash browns.

Divina Cruz said that, “I really loved being able to skip classes and that we were allowed to dress up. So chic!” Other seniors, such as Colette Satterfield, said that “I loved the theme of the brunch and appreciated all the helpful parents.” Speaking of parents, senior parents were also there to help the brunch run smoothly. Some parents had the option to organize the event, while other parents signed up for event setup and event cleanup. Seniors took a final picture in front of the Class of ‘24 sign before departing from the brunch. They were excused from classes for the remainder of the day. The senior brunch is a hallmark of the graduating class, and begins the final stretch towards graduation.
