Saint Mary’s High School is delighted to offer Food and Nutrition courses aimed at educating our students in the art of planning, preparing, and serving food. Students develop an understanding of meal planning, foods from around the world, and nutrition–explicitly the study of eating disorders.

COOKING COURSES
Foods and Nutrition 1
This course deals with planning, preparing, and serving food cooked in class. Areas of study include: nutrition, breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, desserts and holiday cooking. The study of safety and sanitation procedures relating to food preparation will also be included. Foods and Nutrition courses can be taken in any order.

Areas of study include: meal planning, appetizers, soups, salads, foreign food, and nutrition--explicitly the study of eating disorders. The study of safety and sanitation procedures relating to food preparation will also be included. Foods and Nutrition courses can be taken in any order.

World Cuisines
This course requires students’ knowledge of basic cooking and kitchen skills. Students will learn about foods popular in the United States and foods from various regions around the world. Students will prepare dishes in small groups in a kitchen laboratory setting, while exploring various country’s distinct dishes, as well as the dierent factors that inuence the types of food people eat.
